Henk was born in the Natal Midlands on 1 September 1977, and to this day, is still an avid Sharks supporter despite protests from his sons, who support WP/Stormers.
After matriculating from Voortrekker High School in 1995, Henk attended Tukkies from 1996 to 1999, where he completed his Bcom (Accounting) Hons.
While at Tuks, he served on the board of Radio Tuks (RSA’s biggest community radio station at that time) as Financial Director and also served on the Student Development Committee of the University.
Henk completed articles at Deloitte from 2000 to 2002 and successfully completed his CA(SA) board exams during this period as well. At the end of his articles, Henk also married his wife, Helene. Together, they completed a short stint in the United States in Topeka, Kansas – smack in the middle of the USA. Henk and Helene rented a Toyota Corolla and drove right around the USA on a 7-week road trip (covering roughly 16 000km), ticking all of the bucket list items.
Upon return, Henk and Helene settled in Potchefstroom, serving as a partner in a practice until 2009. During this time, he also completed his MCOM (Taxation) at the University of Pretoria. In 2009, the Zuydam family moved down to Durbanville for a business opportunity at a Durbanville-based practice.
In 2012, Zuydam Konsult was born. From its humble beginnings, the firm grew into what it is today, employing close to 50 staff members with offices in Durbanville/Belville, Fish Hoek and The Hague in the Netherlands.
Apart from work, Henk loves to spend time with his wife and their three sons, HJ, Christian and Wilhelm. Henk’s reward system is built on travel and holidays. His motto is that one day when he is old, sitting on a rocking chair, he wants to have experienced and seen it all with his wife Helene. He enjoys hunting and fishing and the odd round of golf.
